Case Histories for Educational Facilities Minnetonka Schools03-09-10The Minnetonka, Minn., High School is considered the flagship of Minnetonka Public School District #276, which serves approximately 8,400 students in grades K-12 in this suburban community located just eight miles west of Minneapolis in Hennepin County. As such, it was the first among the district’s schools to receive a facelift completed in January 2009 that included a secure entry and office space within a two-story beacon-like rotunda. more  The Lutheran Theological Seminary Philadelphia11-30-07The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia, situated on 14 park-like tree-shaded acres, has been a community presence in the Mount Airy neighborhood of Northwest Philadelphia since the 1880s. Classes at the 500-student campus – originally founded in 1864 and a seminary of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America – have been held in a hodgepodge of historic spaces, including the dining rooms of professors who reside in campus housing. more  Mamaroneck, NY, High School Addition09-11-07Architects at The Geddis Partnership, of Southport, Conn., were asked to bridge the gap between the high school and the former junior high school, designing a 28,000 square-foot three-story addition totaling $15.8 million to design and construct, with a fall 2005 opening. more  UC Riverside03-24-06A suggestion of metal in the context of a brick exterior leads to a courtyard where the walls are clad predominantly in Alucobond Material—at the University of California, Riverside, Engineering Building Unit 2. Also introduced as a complement to brick on the exterior, sandstone is utilized as part of the courtyard as well. more  Hyundai Training Facility06-23-04As a state-funded building, the Hyundai Training Facility in Montgomery, AL, needed “good design on a budget,” according to Byron K. Smith, Associate in the Birmingham office of Gresham, Smith and Partners. Alabama Industrial Development Training (AIDT) was the architectural firm’s client for the training facility. more
