• Our goal is to protect and promote the environment, and the health and safety of all employees and communities. Every Alcan employee is expected to actively support this policy.
• Alcan's ultimate goal is to be a leader in EHS excellence.
• ACUS, Benton is ISO14001 (Environmental Management System) and OHSAS18001 (Health and Safety Management System) certified.
• ACUS Benton has a very active Safety Committee comprised of manufacturing operators from various shifts/departments, shift supervisors, engineering, Plant Manager, administrative personnel and EHS manager.
• ACUS Benton plant management conducts 3 EHS inspections of the facility per month, initiates and carries out corrective action plans.
• ACUS Benton has a Storm Water Best Management Practices Plan and a Groundwater Protection Plan which requires monitoring of storm water runoff and regular site inspections as well as review of the management plans.
• ACUS Benton has a Spill Prevention Contingency and Control Plan as well as an Emergency Response Plan to protect the environment and personnel in case of emergency incidents.
• ACUS Benton participates in the Alcan Green House Gas (GHG) Target program to reduce GHG emissions company wide with an emphasis on energy usage reduction.
• ACUS Benton has a Resource Management Program which tracks raw materials, scrap, waste products, energy usage and water usage.

• ACUS Benton is inspected by the required governmental agencies but is also audited by third parties as part of the ISO 14001 and OHSA 18001 requirements. Additionally Alcan Inc. conducts a periodic comprehensive EHS audit as well as internal EHS audits by site personnel.
• ACUS Benton employees also participate in the Relay for Life and recycle consumer aluminum products with proceeds going to the Habitat for Humanity.
