Residential dwellings that employ Alucobond aluminum composite cladding have a unique appearance. Particularly prominent in Australia, the use of ACM in the US residential market is less established. The Australian residential market however utilizes ACM for its light weight, durability and modern aesthetic. Often seen in whites and neutral colors, the use of metallic ACM is seen even less often, making the Euston Street Residence an incomparable design.
Used in conjunction with other materials, stone, brick and wood, the use of aluminum offers a contemporary look. Designed by 2bscene design, the “Upside Down House” as they call it, is on an interesting piece of property. The space is subdivided to feature the large family home on the corner of the allotment, but also features a townhome behind it.
The grand design of home, built by Knight Building Group, focuses largely on uniqueness. When the architects and builders describe the design they call it fearless and uncommon, words that embody a residence of this caliber.
The four-bedroom home utilizes an open floor plan, creating large spaces for the family and in an effort to create warmth the interior was designed with wood and other natural materials. The builders at Knight explain, “…the front door is made of recycled timber, the flooring is bamboo, and it also features a timber staircase…the combination in one home is a striking and a bold choice…giving the home an edgy yet warm feel.”
The Smoke Silver Metallic Alucobond ACM used on the structure’s exterior offers a tinge of modernity to the residence. Fabricated with an unusual geometric design, ACM serves as a beautiful contrast to the traditional wood and brick features of the exterior. The ACM’s topcoat protects the material from weathering, perfect for Australia’s coastal climate.
