BDO (Namur-Charleroi) moved into their new office space in December 2017. The building was created as a need for expansion, given the company’s extensive growth over recent years. Located at the entrance of Créalys Science Park, the building stands out amongst its surroundings with an impressive copper clad exterior. The architects at BSolutions were purposeful in all aspects of the design, strategically placing the building’s entrance on the west side where a heavy influx of natural light penetrates the interior reception area.

Creating an almost kinetic effect, the exterior utilizes vertical sun protectors fabricated by metal processing company Limeparts. The exterior is completely enveloped in Alucobond PLUS naturAL Copper. This finish, produced in Europe, combines the luster of a natural metal utilizing a metallic gloss with both light reflection and absorption. The effect is stunning, bouncing natural and artificial light from the exterior creating a dynamic appearance at every angle. The utilization of a natural metal was meant to create an engaging and interesting façade rather than one that simply blended into its surroundings.

Alucobond Europe describe BSolutions carefully considered design, “The conceptual use of the building’s supporting structure ingeniously presents a multi-faceted image of this unconventional volume. A flexible interior layout has been facilitated by both the façade design and integrated lighting concept.” The award-winning project is a fantastic example of the natural beauty of dynamic metals.
