The Harwyn Office Pod is a portable home office born from founder Jason Fremder’s need for a demarcation between home life and profession life.
Fremder explains the idea for the pod was born simultaneously with the birth of his first daughter “my home office was no longer a quiet sanctuary…one sunny afternoon, when working in the backseat of my 4WD in the driveway at home, the idea for Harwyn struck me like a bolt of lighting.”
In collaboration with architect Selwyn Blackstone, a professionally compact space was designed that went beyond the idea of a home office to accommodate any member of the family dynamic as it’s “ideal for work and play.”
Fremder explains further “…I’d wanted to work in a space that would house the suite of my iDevices and not look out of place. Most of the offerings on the market seemed mismatched to modern times from a design perspective.”
The final design is the ultimate home office that’s luxurious but homey, high tech but blends in the natural environment. For this, Alucobond Spectra was chosen as its natural luster has the ability to fuss with its surroundings.
According to the designers, the material was chosen for its low maintenance, malleability, extensive color offerings and flat finish. Noting that its German engineering boasted “confidence in the quality of the product.”
While the Alucobond Spectra Jewel aluminum composite material is featured in the interior applications as well, along with Alucobond Pure White, the Spectra material was chosen for the exterior due to its weatherability properties and ease of fabrication.
The Harywn Office Pod makes the need for the traditional home office obsolete.
