The award-winning Harwyn office pods have taken the design world by storm offering beautifully designed prefabricated modular spaces. The small team at Harwyn is dedicated to innovative design working with the “100 to 1 concept ratio” which, as the designers explain, “…for every 100 great ideas we put to paper, one will emerge as exceptional to make its way from sketchpad to design.”

In a previous post from 2015, we focused on one of the first Harwyn pods, which, as with most great brands, started from the need of a single person, seeking a balance between home and professional life.

Today the brand, and designs, have evolved as well as the company’s clientele. In a recent installation for a residential dwelling in Australia, Harwyn created a pod for a Technical video director of a popular AU sports television network. The client was looking for a home office that offered the conveniences of not being entirely in the home. According to Harwyn’s Managing Director Jason Fremder, “He [the client] needed a place that was smart, professional, and comfortable, that would lend itself to long stretches of work. It also needed to blend to his manicured home garden setting.”

Additionally, the designers at Harwyn built the pod completely off site as per the client’s request to avoid construction at the home. The modular pod was then craned into the client’s backyard. The pod utilizes three Alucobond aluminum composite finishes, Dark Grey Metallic, Smoke Silver Metallic, and Pure White 10.

Fremder further states, “The client loved the fact that Alucobond’s color pallet offered a range that would perfectly blend to the existing color set of his home. And most importantly, that Alucobond offered a maintenance-free solution that would require no staining or painting whatsoever and keep its look under the harsh Australian environment.”

Harwyn is an experienced user of Alucobond ACM and continues to captivate the architectural world with its innovative approach to prefab design. Fremder explains, “We only use Tier-1 ACM and Alucobond is our material of choice. We have not tried any other European or Chinese imports and plan to continue enjoying Alucobond as our preferred ACM.”
