New color boosts design capabilities and meets today’s fire performance requirements

Davidson, NC  – October 17, 2022 – 3A Composites USA is taking the innovative design and unparalleled performance of ALUCOBOND PLUS to the next level with the launch of its new gray core. Effective October 17, 2022 the color of the product’s solid, fire-retardant (FR) core — developed exclusively to meet fire performance requirements  — has been updated to gray from its original shade of white. This product design enhancement was achieved through modifications to the formulation that allows for greater design flexibility while still maintaining the product’s superior fire performance rating.

The unique façade design of The Stack Deep Ellum – a new 16-story 215,000 square-foot mixed-use office, retail and parking development – reflects the dynamic nature of this historic Dallas neighborhood, which transitions from daytime office, art gallery and café spaces to nighttime entertainment, happy-hour and evening-only dining venues

As the original Aluminum Composite Material (ACM), ALUCOBOND® has a 50 year history in the Architectural market. The product was created to provide the architectural market with a durable, light-weight panel that was easy to fabricate and handle. The composite structure meant that the sheets could retain flatness while being produced in very large sizes. For many years now, there have been multiple thicknesses of ACM available: 3mm, 4mm, and 6mm.

For showcasing how metal panels can be leveraged in a transformative retrofit project, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 134 headquarters building in Chicago won the 2019 Metal Architecture Design Award for renovations and retrofits. Metal wall panels were used in the adaptive reuse project to give the building a new identity, express its use and the importance of some spaces. The retrofit completely transformed a 1960s elementary school building into a labor organization’s modern headquarters, which includes a lobby, large meeting hall, offices, meeting rooms, lounges and gymnasium community center.

The new Quora Education Center in Little Canada, Minn., celebrated its grand opening in August 2018 as the latest educational facility in Minnesota’s Northeast Metro 916 Intermediate School District designed specifically to address the sensory needs of students receiving special education services.
