ALUCOBOND Named Winner in the Architect’s Newspaper’s 8th Annual Best of Products Awards

ALUCOBOND® PLUS Selected as Winner in the Finishes/Surfaces Outdoor Category

3A Composites USA is pleased to announce that its product, ALUCOBOND® PLUS, was named winner of the Finishes/Surfaces Outdoor Category in Architect Newspaper’s 8th Annual Best of Products Awards.  Winners were chosen by a jury of architects, designers, educators, curators and manufacturers, along with the magazine’s editors. Entries were evaluated based on their level of innovation, aesthetics, performance and value.

This award celebrates the use of ALUCOBOND® PLUS in the creation of the distinctive and innovative design of the new 240,000 square-foot end zone expansion of Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on the campus of University of Texas (UT). The project’s designers selected to customize ALUCOBOND PLUS metal panels in the University’s signature shade of UT burnt orange to create the unmistakable Longhorn icon, which is clearly visible from any distance.

“The entire 3A Composites USA team is honored to have ALUCOBOND® PLUS chosen as this year’s winning product by Architect Newspaper’s distinguished panel of judges,” stated Nick Scheib, general manager, Architectural Division, 3A Composites Americas. “We’re proud of the way our product enables the University of Texas to promote their Longhorn legacy and are thrilled at the opportunity to showcase this project through these awards.”

The adaptability of ALUCOBOND PLUS also enabled its use in other interior and exterior cladding applications at the stadium including Rusted Metal finish panels with Pure White accents that dress the angled twin towers which frame the large screen in end zone, while Pure White panels clad the walls of the players’ football tunnel.

The project also features 7,920 square feet of ALUCOBOND AXCENT™ – a solid flat aluminum sheet installed as complementary metal trim – in a combination of .040” custom UT Burnt Orange and .040” Pure White.
