Mamaroneck, NY, High School Addition Fulfills Master Planning Solution

As the population of the Mamaroneck Union Free School District in Mamaroneck, N.Y., has grown through the years to its current 4,800-plus students, so have its building space requirements. Mamaroneck High School, which is educational home to 1,335 students, includes a number of additions that stretch from its original 1926 Post Road location to a former junior high school located approximately one-quarter mile away. 

Award-Winning Marine Terminal Features ALUCOBOND® Material

The Alaska Marine Highway System had a history of using wooden buildings, which related to the traditional style of ferry terminals. Yet, in keeping with the System’s move to high technology in equipment, facilities and computerized reservation systems, ALUCOBOND® Material was chosen for the cladding of its new Valdez ferry terminal building, completed in late 2004. Smaller dockside structures were also clad with the material.

New Sharp Grossmont Hospital Center is High-Tech

Sharp Grossmont Hospital, La Mesa, CA opened phase one of its new Emergency and Critical Care Center in fall 2004 – “one of the most technologically advanced emergency and intensive care facilities in the nation,” according to hospital officials. The new Center is high-tech in appearance, too, with its gleaming exterior cladding of ALUCOBOND® and ALUCOBOND® PLUS materials in Champagne Metallic finish. The five-story addition utilized more than 25,000 sq. ft. of the aluminum composite materials (ACM) manufactured by the Benton, KY plant of 3A Composites USA Inc. The materials were distributed, fabricated and installed by Center Glass Co. of La Mesa, CA, which also handled the glass work at the hospital. The ALUCOBOND® materials were attached using the System CGD-2000 dry joint system by Center Glass Co.

“Good Design on a Budget” Involving ALUCOBOND® PLUS Material

As a state-funded building, the Hyundai Training Facility in Montgomery, AL, needed “good design on a budget,” according to Byron K. Smith, Associate in the Birmingham office of Gresham, Smith and Partners. Alabama Industrial Development Training (AIDT) was the architectural firm’s client for the training facility.
