Jumer’s Casino & Hotel Lights Up Landscape in Broad Daylight With Alucobond® Spectra Colors

The new Jumer’s Casino & Hotel in Rock Island, Ill., was designed to bring a Las Vegas-style gaming experience to the Midwest – opening in December 2008 as a replacement for the company’s Casino Rock Island Riverboat, which had been moored since 1992 on the Mississippi River in downtown Rock Island. The new $151-million 270,000 square-foot complex includes one 170,000 square-foot casino and entertainment center connected to a five-story 205-room hotel.

The new $200-million LIVESTRONG Sporting Park – which opened in June 2011  in Kansas City, Kan., as home to the Sporting Kansas City Major League Soccer (MLS) team – was designed to be the United States’ first world-class soccer stadium. This 340,000 square-foot stadium situated on a 14-acre site features 18,500 seats and includes 36 luxury suites and five clubs. LIVESTRONG Sporting Park boasts a 75-yard by 120-yard playing field with a natural grass surface that includes an under-soil heating and moisture management system. The stadium’s state-of-the-art communications systems utilizes 300 HDTVs broadcasting through an IPTV network as well as two HD video boards, including the main 2,016 square-foot board on the stadium’s south end and a 550 square-foot board on the north end. LIVESTRONG Sporting Park is the first MLS stadium to be fully lighted for HDTV.

The New England Council of Carpenters (NERCC) has represented the interests of its members for more than 130 years.  While a long-standing regional presence, this traditional organization based in Boston also embraces modern goals for its membership of 22,000 carpenters in six New England states.  So, when the new home of NERCC and the Boston Carpenters Training Center was designed, it was important to organization leaders that it be comprised of both traditional and modern architectural influences.

Three architectural firms were challenged by the Vancouver Organizing Committee to design Millennium Water:  The Southeast False Creek Olympic Village in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, for its first use as a temporary home for many of the 2,600 athletes from 82 nations competing in the 2010 Winter Olympics. (The Olympic Games were held Feb. 12-28, 2010, in venues located throughout Greater Vancouver, as well as in the resort town of Whistler, British Columbia, where additional athletes were hosted.)  More permanently, Millennium Water was designed as a sustainable mixed-use residential and commercial community, incorporating not only environmental sustainability but social and economic sustainability goals as well.

SCHOOLS’ NEW WELCOMING, SECURE ENTRYWAYS FINISHED WITH ALUCOBOND® ACM

The Minnetonka, Minn., High School is considered the flagship of Minnetonka Public School District #276, which serves approximately 8,400 students in grades K-12 in this suburban community located just eight miles west of Minneapolis in Hennepin County.  As such, it was the first among the district’s schools to receive a facelift completed in January 2009 that included a secure entry and office space within a two-story beacon-like rotunda.
